Retaining Walls in Narara

Building a retaining wall in Narara? Central Coast Council's guide, Building over or near Council sewer and water mains (June 2014, former Gosford City Council), says it runs low-pressure sewer systems within selected areas of Narara, and requires at least 1.0 m clearance between a new structure and a vacuum or low-pressure sewer line.

Retaining Walls around Narara

Ask Council whether your block is one of the areas affected before you dig. The guide says only that the systems are within selected areas, and that is how this page keeps it.

The same guide dates from June 2014 and was written for the former Gosford City Council, so read Council's current page for the line before you rely on a distance.

Permits and Central Coast Council rules

A wall that is not exempt or complying development needs a development application to Central Coast Council. Exempt means no more than 600 mm high and clear of boundaries, easements, sewer and water mains, so check the lines on the main retaining walls page and confirm with Council before work starts.
